Commission: Written for the London Symphony Orchestra through the LSO Discovery Panufnik Composers Scheme, generously supported by Lady Hamlyn and the Helen Hamlyn Trust.
First performance: 26 March 2020, LSO St. Luke's. The London Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Françoix Xavier-Roth.

Programme Note
The title of this piece is taken from Wallace Stevens's poem, Peter Quince at the Clavier. A print of this hung above my piano while I composed this work; it seeped into my writing.

And thus it is that what I feel,

Thinking of your blue-shadowed silk,
